Bee Safe!

2020 is gone and a New Year has begun. I pray that you and your loved ones have been safe during Covid-19.

Everyone knows by now to wash your hands, wear a mask, and socially distancing. I also hope that you are eating healthy, keeping your mind and body active, and keeping the faith! Honey has many health benefits! Here are a few published by Healthline:

  1. Honey contains some nutrients: 1 Tablespoon of honey contains 64 calories and 17 grams of sugar. It contains no fiber, fat, or protein and trace amounts of several vitamins and minerals. Darker honey tend to be even higher in these compounds.

  2. Honey is rich in antioxidants: antioxidants have been linked to reduced risk of heart attacks, strokes, and some types of cancer. Buckwheat honey increases the antioxidant value of your blood.

  3. Honey helps improve cholesterol and can lower triglycerides.

  4. Honey can help suppress coughs in children. Please note** do not give honey to children under 1 year of age due to the risk of botulism**

Since we are trying to eat healthier, here is a recipe for an instant breakfast drink form Healthy Honey Cookbook:

1/2 cup orange juice 2 Tablespoons honey

1/2 cup milk 1 egg

1 teaspoon lemon juice dash of ground nutmeg

Combine ingredients in a blender until frothy. This instant breakfast contains all the essentials of a balanced day-starter. (You can also add whatever fruits that you prefer)

I’m going to “resolve” to do a better job of maintaining the website and posting blogs! Any suggestions are welcome. We also plan to add additional items to the catalog and, at some point, add homemade chocolates and marshmallows.

Have a Blessed New Year and remember to Bee Safe!
